What only took seconds to drain in the past was almost up to my calf muscles. I checked the stop and it was up. Uggh...The tub was clogged. There had been no gradual change, no warning that there was about to be a problem. This awareness snuck up on me like a heart attack....so abrupt and unexpected.
I did what most of us do. I got frustrated and then tried to ignore it. Then I blamed it on the soap or perhaps the neighbors who had put something in their sink or tub and it was causing a massive back up for all of us... stupid neighbors.
Two showers after that, I noticed the tub started getting dirtier because the water had more time to sit and leave its dingy residue. Common sense would have told me to go to the store and purchase some solution that could remove the build up and blockage. Actually, common sense did tell me to do that but it took almost a week and a half for me to actually go 1.5 miles down the street, to the store, to spend no more than 3 dollars.
In the interim period, I cleaned the tub out after every shower. Right after my last shower of insanity, I noticed that it took almost 15 minutes for that standing water to completely drain.
Sometimes, it seems, problems come out of no where, catching us off guard and unprepared. Sometimes we even know how to fix the problem, or how to remove the obstruction or hindrance from our path. However, instead of doing exactly that, we come up with "work arounds" and "quick fixes" that ultimately cost us more in time, energy, and effort.
Ultimately, it took only HALF the time it had been taking the water to drain, to clean out the plumbing (my plumbing) that was actually causing the problem.
My next shower was soooooo much more enjoyable because their was no standing water at all. When I turned the water off, all of it immediately drained.
What's My Point?
Remember that although you may not always expect or want to deal with a problem, it's best to face it AND handle it the right way. Often when you don't:
1. You don't take responsibility
2. Blame others for YOUR problems
3. Your situation gets messy
4. Your life loses its natural flow
5. You waste valuable time
