When many of us are asked about life's challenges, we say, "It's nothing," or "It's nothing I can't handle or get through." We are often told to "suck it up" or "get over it," forcing us to make light of the obstacles on our Call Path. There are four vital points to note here:
1) God reminds us that these things are called strongholds. That means that they are strong. So, it's okay to acknowledge that you are not up against a weak opponent.
2) What's even more relieving is acknowledging that you aren't all that strong. God lets us know that "the joy of the Lord is our strength" (Neh 8:10). Joy = strength? REALLY? Yes! For vessels that are weak, finding joy in the midst of life's challenges is the true sign of strength. Your true strength is not external but internal, not what you can lift but what you can handle.
3) God is also strong. That means God can also be our stronghold (Ps 9:9; 18:2) in times of trouble. There is a place of safety and peace in storms, which is how you can have peace in them.
4) God is strong AND mighty (Ps 24:8). Your situation is strong, but God is strong and mighty. Your heartbreak is strong, but God is strong and mighty. Your lack is strong, but God is strong and mighty. God is mighty to save, mighty to deliver, mighty to provide and mighty to heal. The Lord our God is mighty in battle. In your struggle, don't forget that God is still fighting for YOU!
