Life Begins at the Core: Honoring Your Creator with Healthy Living

Picture This: You start out seeking to remove some unwanted body fat, because you realize that the mirror isn’t lying about how you look. As you go along, you can’t figure out why you keep stalling, getting frustrated and quitting. You lose a pound and then gain five more. With the holidays rapidly approaching, it can seem like there is no hope in sight. Well, the answer to your problem may be much simpler than you once believed. Nourishing the roots of your health by taking care of your core nutritional needs creates a strong foundation for your body and establishes a bank of resources to build, repair and fuel it. Living from the Core is a disciplined self therapy which brings body, mind and spirit together for a holistic approach to health and healing.

With more studies being done on holistic living, health and increasing the level at which you are in tune with your body, it is becoming more obvious that focusing on 'losing weight' is a major stumbling block in achieving your goal. Instead, making a conscious decision to choose total wellness is the best way to get the results you desire and maintain balance of the mind, body and spirit. Just as our Creator has fashioned you to operate with your ‘total’ body, you must live holistically, creating a strong sense of balance that leads to an external and internal healthy goal.

How strong is your Core? Most people are not aware that the core muscles are involved in every movement they make. From driving and looking over your shoulder, to cooking dinner and lifting your baby from the crib, most of your daily activities rely on your core muscles. The core muscles hold the hips and spine, keeping all the postural groups of the body in place. When the core muscles are weak, you are unable to do any movements properly. No matter how strong your other muscles are, if the core is not strong then the other muscles become strained and fatigued. Much of the common aches and pains many endure in their lower back, pelvic area, neck, head, abs, shoulders and more are a direct result of weakness and misalignment at their Core.

What is amazing is that no matter how far you stray from a centered and balanced life, you can turn it around by taking simple steps that have a positive effect on every area of your life. Start researching and implementing core strengthening workouts, like Pilates or yoga, practice breathing correctly from your diaphragm while doing abdominal exercises, and make time for daily meditation to stabilize your spiritual center. Stretch, breathe, de-stress, re-align, move, and dance from your Core. You will be astonished by how much better, taller and stronger you feel and how much more efficiently you perform your daily activities, play and live your life! Remember, life begins where our Creator dwells within us…at the Core!
